Miscellaneous Information

Miscellaneous Information:

Reynaldo R. Martinez is an administrator and adjunct professor at William Paterson University of NJ, and VP of Corporate Communications for International Resources Group, LLC. In November of 2006 he was elected to the Council of the Borough of Haledon, New Jersey. He was reelected in 2009 and again in 2012. For a number of years, Martinez served as the Chair of Public Safety, and currently serves as the Chair of Capital Projects. In 2003, Councilman Martinez was appointed by the governor to the New Jersey Advisory Council on Corrections where he served for nearly a decade. His passions to serve the community lead Martinez to work with the parents and children of BJ Wilkerson Memorial Child Development Center as the president of the Parent Support Education Association. For six years he served as the Professional Services Staff Representative to the AFT Local 1796 at William Paterson University. Additionally, Councilman Martinez is a member of the National League of Dominican American Elected Officials, and is vice president of the Dominican American Elected Officials Caucus of NJ. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a Masters of Education from William Paterson College.  In 1994, he was inducted to Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society in Education. In 2008 Councilman Martinez was recognized by the New Jersey Chapter of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) for his support and service to the LISTA New Jersey Tech Council and his tremendous advocacy to those he represents. In 2014 he was recognized by the NJ State Senate for his successful political, corporate and academic careers, and for his unwavering commitment to serve others. Martinez has taught Public Speaking and Professional Communication at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. After his election victory in November of 2006, Councilman Martinez was invited by the President of the Dominican Republic, the Honorable Dr. Leonel Fernandez to a special dinner at the National Palace in Santo Domingo where he was recognized for his achievement. In September of 2010 Councilman Martinez extended an invitation to President Fernandez to visit William Paterson University where the president addressed over 700 students, faculty, staff, and community leaders. His successful visit also served as the catalyst for the signing of a student exchange agreement between William Paterson and Fernandez’s Global Foundation for Democracy and Development. Martinez is most proud of the nonprofit organization for underprivileged children and adults: God is able International Foundation for which he is founder and president.  Perhaps most importantly, Martinez comes from a close knit family, and is a proud father of two. He vows to work diligently in order to continue to move Haledon forward.
